Mandir Murti Pratisthapana

Description:

Mandir Murti Pratisthapana is the sacred Vedic ceremony of installing and consecrating a deity’s idol in a temple or home shrine. It is not merely placing a murti — it is a detailed ritual through which divine energy (Prana) is invoked into the idol through Pran Pratistha.

The ceremony generally includes:

1. Ganesh Poojan and Sankalp

2. Vastu Shanti (if required)

3. Kalash Sthapana

4. Ritual purification of the Murti (Snapan / Abhishek with Panchamrut)

5. Chanting of specific Vedic mantras according to the deity

6. Pran Pratistha Vidhi (invoking divine presence into the idol)

7. Netra milan (symbolic opening of the deity’s eyes)

8. Havan and Purnahuti

9. Maha Aarti and Prasad distribution

Importance:

1. Invocation of Divine Energy
After Pran Pratistha, the murti is no longer symbolic it is treated as a living divine presence.

2. Spiritual Activation of Space
The place becomes a sacred and energized spiritual center.

3. Long-Term Blessings and Protection
Ensures continuous divine grace, peace, and prosperity for devotees.

4. Cultural and Religious Continuity
Preserves Sanatan traditions through proper Vedic installation methods.

5. Auspicious Beginning
Essential before regular worship (Nitya Pooja) begins in a new temple.
